Gwen Knighton (champion journeyman harper), Teresa Gibson Powell, and Brenda Sutton combine sounds and songs for one of the most amazing CDs to come out of the SF folk community in years. Especially notable songs are their version of Iowa, Gwen Knighton's "Little Boy Blue", and Brenda Sutton's heartrending "In a Gown Too Blue".

5 out of 5 stars Extremely original, technically proficient, highly appealing

I was TOLD Three Weird Sisters were playing in our town for the SciFi Con, and I didn't go..MY BAD!! This CD is some of the most original music I have had the pleasure of hearing. Even the traditional tunes have a fresh flavor and a treatment that is uniquely wacky, in a really nice way. Was moved right down to the ground by Rite of Passage, and laughed my head off at Boys Want Sex...Only one question...since Rite the First Time is really right, how soon can we get the second time??

4 out of 5 stars Fine fanciful eclectic collection of wise witty wacky warm wonderful songs

What a diverse assembly of styles, themes, and humours! [Three Weird Sisters] really did do Rite the First Time right. These talented women approach every song with insight and enthusiasm. You can tell just by listening to them that they love what they do and have a good time doing it. In a Gown Too Blue is the big jewel in the crown, but the rest of the selections sparkle, too. Boys Want Sex in the Morning (too true!) and Pity Party had me giggling every time I even thought about those songs. My teenage daughters walked in my office while I was listening to this CD. They swiped it the instant my back was turned. Now I have to buy another copy!
